Go Red Sox!!

The Red Sox won again against the NY Yankees. They are just killing them. After losing the first game on Friday night, the Red Sox came back and destroyed the most expensive team in baseball. Can't say this out loud. Many of my colleagues are Yankee fans.

Tallest building project

Think the tallest building might be in the Western part of the world? Asia is coming up fast.

Finally

Dubai is getting a railway system going. With the population growing and traffic just getting ridiculous, they need a system and fast.

Saturday

I went to visit the Statue of Liberty with my sister, who is in town for 4 days. We waited in line for about 1.5 hours before an announcement that no tickets are available to go to the Statue. So we left. My sister went to see the Empire State Building while I met with Natalie at Central Park. The weather started to get bad so just stayed in the whole night. Amazing how the weather can change so dramatically in a few hours.

Forfeit

So the word of the day was Forfeit. We went to play the third game of the season and the other team never showed up. What a waste of time. I was wasiting for this day to improve my batting average but no chance. Nevertheless, we won by default 7-0.

Still no phone

So I wrote earlier that my phone was damaged due to the ink factor. Well, that was my old phone. I have a newer one which stopped working a month ago. It would not charge. I finally got it back today with the hope that it is fixed. No, it is not. So I called Ericsson and now they are like we will send you a new charger. Well, the charger is on back-order. I cant believe my luck. I had two cell phones and both are not working. Moral of the story: Do not get an Ericsson phone. Not worth it.

No phone

A pen leaked in my trouser pockets at work. It 'damaged' my new trousers and also went over my cell phone. Can you believe that ink can make ur cellphone worthless? I don't know how I am going to survive w/o one. Just makes me realise how dependent we are on cell phones these days.

Second softball game

So my Company played its second softball game this week. We were playing against Lifetime Tv. Unfortunately, I only got one at-bat but got a hit. I reached the first base. Then, another hit and I was running towards second. The second baseman moved the base which I reached. The play was still on and I slid to get to the base. I got mad cause she moved it so I said 'Take that'. Then, one of the opposing players started cussing. It made me so mad. I was so happy that we buried them 15-2. They deserve such a bad loss and also, a loss on mercy rule.

Anger

So I read this article on the BBC news website. Pakistani authorities have learnt that the holy book, Koran/Quran, was desecrated at the Guantanamo Bay. If this is true, I am appalled at the US authorties. They have not right to do that. They can use some tactics to get some information but to insult a particular faith against its people, that is simply not acceptable. I hope that they receive their due punishment. The article:

What a day

I went for prayers since it was a Friday. Afer that, I grabbed some snacks and entered the elevator to get back to work. The elevator got stuck. It was making wierd noises and moving slowly. I was stuck wih another guy and we set off an alarm. I started praying. I was like man, this sucks. I came from prayers and now I got stuck. It took the building people 20-25 minutes to get us out. I have not been that frightened many times in my life. Then,I got trained to do something at work at 4:00 pm. Hence, I was the last person to leave the office at around 10:00 pm. A long and frightening day.

Softball

I joined the Company softball team. We have a game about every other week. I came to a harsh reality a fter I found out that I will only be a designated hitter. Hence, no fielding for me. I played softbal in high school and I was in good sports shape. Unofrunately, studies took over and after eating unhealthy food, my stamina has decreased. However, there are some good fielders in the team,so that kind of made the disappointment decrease. Yet, I imagine if I continued to be in shape, I would fielding the ball and such. I hit the ball three times. Twice, I got caught in the outfield. The third time. I hit the ball and ran to first base. My team and myself thought I was in but the umpire called me out. How could he do that? He was watching from home base and I was running to first. His view was not the best. Anyways, we won 9-6. So, I guess overall, I should be happy =).

Soon to be graduates

I know some of the AIESECers would be graduating pretty soon. The college lives for them will be over. Cherish the last few days because they wont come back. Look forward to your new life, as in the real-life with an open-mind. It will feel wierd at first when you are making some money and then spending it in ways differently from college. Enjoy the graduation ceremony and please take pictures and post them on your blogs, if you have one. Congratulations !!

The weekend

On Friday night, I went to a colleague's birthday party. She actually lives in a building which I was about to sign a lease for but in the end, declined. It was the first time I hanged out with my colleagues outside of work, so it felt a little wierd. On Saturday, I helped Natalie move to her new place. She got a nice deal on that place, proud of you girl =). I felt quite happy for her. She looked at so many places and it was fustrating sometimes for ehr to find the right one. Finally, she got it and now has a nice apt in the Big Apple. On Sunday, I was hoping to go ot the Cherry Blossom festival but unfortunately, the plan did not work out. So just sat at home all day, did my accounting for the month (oh so much fun) and tried to catch up on the NBA playoffs.
